Sorry we just opened...so we can screw up!

It had been a long time since I bought any books so I went to the newly opened Landmark Bookstores at Road No. 12, Banjara Hill, Hyderabad yesterday. The store is spread over 2 floors with awesome collection of books and even better discounts. I came out with 9 books and 3K lighter to find a new Chinese restaurant next to Landmark.

The Sinova (site under construction) is one of the many restaurants dotting Road No. 12 and looks quite posh. Needless to say, it was a bad choice. The staff was incoherent and I had trouble understanding what they were saying or meant. The decor was quite expensive looking and so were the food items.

According to my previous experience with authentic Chinese cuisine, the Kung Pao Chicken should have been with peanuts and water chestnuts. Pity, the one they offered had neither. It was just a watery preparation pitifully passed off as Kung Pao. Murder I say!

The portions were small and food was just about edible. I almost became depressed after the uplifting book shopping experience.

The food was not the only problem. Delayed service, right table, wrong bill...you get the picture. The only prompt and efficient service was the valet parking.

The staff came and apologized, citing reasons that they had just opened a day earlier and some such stuff. I didn’t pay attention as I was still trying to find the sole peanut or chestnut that would have transformed the 'Sorry Chicken' into 'Kung Pao Chicken'. No luck!

Point is, why open something to public if you are not ready. Will have to go to Landmark once again to lift the moods.
